INVESTMENT ANALYST

Sisedi’s investment has an opportunity for a qualified investment professional to join the team. The incumbent will form part of a dynamic team responsible to provide strategic management and oversight of assets invested on behalf of Sisedi’s clients.


We are looking for a talented and hard-working individual with excellent analytical and quantitative skills, an in-depth understanding of investments, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.


This role is responsible for research, modelling, analysis and provision of relevant information for listed and unlisted asset classes, as well as for making recommendations on alternative investments.
This role will work under the supervision and in close collaboration with the Chief Investment Office.


Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • The Investment Analyst role will require the candidate to analyse numerous industries and identify viable investment opportunities.
  • This will entail establishing and maintaining relationships with senior management of other companies, investment bankers, consultants, brokers, and other related professionals, researching companies/assets that would be potential investment targets, and maintaining a database of investment opportunities that are being marketed in the open market.
  • Once a particular investment opportunity is identified, he/she will be responsible for researching the company, performing due diligence on them, assessing their risk, understanding their strategy, and preparing an investment memorandum to present to the investment committee.
  • Provide fund/market updates to the Portfolio Manager i.e., monitor fund exposures, cash/FX positions, wider market movements and generate portfolio risk reports as required.
  • Executing on trade decisions effected by the Portfolio Manager.
  • Participate in stock selection processes.
  • Work alongside middle office and external fund administrators to generate ad-hoc investment reports.
  • Knowledge of current market conditions, language, and/or culture of some emerging market within the Common Monetary Area are strongly preferred.
  • Assist in fundamental research on South African and Common Monetary Markets, with a view to producing, defending, and maintaining a comprehensive investment case.
  • Must have proven ability to multitask, remain flexible, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using MS Office, particularly knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word is required.
  • Ability to debate in a constructive manner and to challenge conventional wisdom.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members, company management and clients.
  • Accuracy, superior attention to detail and excellent follow through.
  • Possess a strong capacity for operating in a flexible, dynamic environment where creative and strategic thinking is required.
  • Designing, implementing and monitoring investment strategies, with a particular focus on quantitative modelling, investment and asset class analysis and strategic allocation
  • Evaluation of new investment opportunities, including in traditional and alternative asset classes.
  • Assisting with setting and monitoring investment mandates and performance, including setting benchmarks and performance targets and setting risk limits.
  • Supporting asset manager due diligence, selection, and monitoring.
  • Representing policyholder interests on various investment committees.
  • Preparation of investment reports and proposals which are presented to various senior internal Investment and Governance Committees.
  • Ongoing research into investment industry developments and portfolio structuring techniques.
  • Providing investment guidance and mandate support to other African business units.
  • Manage Corporate Actions including proxy voting process.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office suite and relevant investment portfolio management software.

Skills, Qualifications And Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Investments, Financial Management, Economics, Business Management, or any relevant business-related disciplines.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have enrolled with the CFA Institute or who a CFA Charter holder.
  • Candidate must at least have 5 years of relevant financial services and/or investment experience.
  • Relevant experience includes asset consulting, investment management, investment product development or other relevant field.
  • Passion for producing great investment outcomes for clients, and for protecting them from unnecessary risks and conflicts of interests.
  • Ability to confidently and assertively participate in committee and other group discussions to ensure that client interests are clearly communicated and taken into account in investment decision making.
  • Ability to produce high quality written reports with robust arguments for senior management and Investment Committee consumption.
  • Excellent analytical and modelling skills.
  • Self-starter with strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Knowledge of Responsible Investment and ESG as applicable to asset ownership.

Preference will be given to appropriately qualified, previously disadvantaged Namibians.
